Mobile Car Wash Services Overview

At this point in time you’re ready to start formally defining the washing and detailing services you are going to provide, how you are going to provide them, and what you will charge. You will also determine how many people (if more than yourself) you will need as employees to deliver the level of services to meet your anticipated demand.
When just starting out, we highly recommend beginning with two or three basic service packages. These packages will likely cover 80-90% of what your customers will want. Resist the urge to try and offer everything under the sun at first - let you customers help determine your service mix.

Keep in mind that you will need to advertise your services. By keeping the number of service packages to a minimum in the beginning, you will also be able to cut down on some of your initial marketing expenses. For example, creating a full color brochure with four pages will cost you much less than creating one with 10 pages.
Keeping your initial service offerings to a minimum will also provide you with the opportunity to work out some of the kinks in your process and ultimately perfect your service delivery. As you gain some experience, you will be amazed out how efficient your business can become. With this experience, you can then look to expand into other service offerings.
The following four service packages are designed as a starting point for your business. Obviously the packages you offer will be dependent on what you feel you can adequately deliver and what your customers will demand. The prices we include are examples only - the prices you charge for your services are really going to be determined by your local cost of living, competition, customer demand, cost to comply with environmental regulations and the cost of your equipment and supplies.

Service Package I - Exterior Wash and Detail - $40.00
- Thoroughly hand wash vehicle exterior using sponges and cleaners specifically designed to protect modern clear-coat finishes, plastic coatings and metal sealers.
- Hand dry vehicle exterior using lint-free microfiber towels that leave a spot-free shine.
- Wash and dry door jams and lubricate door hinges.
- Hand dry and polish exterior windows using streak-free microfiber towels and high quality glass cleaner.
- High velocity undercarriage spray.
- Thoroughly clean tires and apply protective high-gloss dressing.
- Hand clean and polish wheels and rims.

Service Package II - Exterior and Interior Wash and Detail - $80.00
- Includes Service Package I - complete exterior wash and detail.
- Thoroughly vacuum all seating surfaces and carpet. Apply stain remover to minor carpet stains.
- Clean and dust interior door surfaces including armrests, pockets and handles.
- Hand dry and polish interior windows using streak-free microfiber towels and high quality glass cleaner.
- Clean and dust steering column and apply protective surface coating.
- Thoroughly clean dashboard and console and apply protective coating where appropriate.
- Dust hard-to-reach places including vents, front and center console and dashboard controls.
- Apply long-lasting interior fragrance.

Service Package III -Engine Compartment Detailing - $125.00
- Includes Service Package I - complete exterior wash and detail.
- Clean out leaves and other debris from intake and collection areas
- Wash and dry entire engine compartment
- Top off fluids including washer fluid, antifreeze and oil
- Test the battery
- Lubricate hood hinges
- Visually inspect all hoses, belts and connectors

Service Package IV - Complete Wax and Polish - $200.00
- Includes Service Package I and II - complete interior and exterior wash and detail.
- Remove oxidation, swirls and minor paint blemishes.
- Seal the paint using a high quality, protective sealant.
- Machine wax and polish all painted surface areas to an ultra high gloss.
Regardless of the service package, all wash and detailing work will be performed at the customer’s choice of location. Since you will incur expenses driving to the customer site, you may want to keep their credit card on file prior to commencing the job. If you show up for the job and the customer forgets the appointment, you may want to consider charging a service fee. This is a tricky topic and is really up to you to decide.
Customer communication is really important prior to the service date and time. Avoid any surprises by confirming appointments out for a couple of days. If you do not have time to make confirmation calls, this may be a great opportunity to hire a virtual assistant for part-time work.
In your mobile car wash and detailing business you will sell your services to two class of customers. The first class are residential customers. You will provide most of your wash and detailing services at the customer's home. The second and more lucrative class of customer are commercial clients. These clients may include office park management firms, companies, new and used car dealerships and valet parking services.
The nature of services should be relatively the same between your residential and commercial clients. However, due to commercial clout, you may want to be a little flexible in terms of volume pricing discounts and customized wash and detailing service packages.
Don't necessarily limit yourself to just automotive washing and detailing. Depending on where you live you many also find growth opportunities in other areas including airplanes, boats, semis, tractors, buses and motorcycles.
