Prior to your opening day you need to make sure that you and your employees (if you have any) are properly trained on all washing and detailing procedures. You will also want to spend time training yourself on the effective and safe use of all of your equipment.
If you are new to this business, you may want to consider attending one of the available on-site training sessions available to mobile detailers. These session are great since they cover the business side of mobile detailing as well as hands-on training for expert detailing procedures.
Ask a couple friends and family to participate in formal dry-run wash and detailing sessions a few days before you open shop. Provide exactly the services you are going to sell your customers. These dry-run sessions will give you the opportunity to work out the major kinks. The sessions will also give you an idea of exactly how long it takes you to complete the jobs.
Crank through as many dry run sessions as possible. The more you practice your procedures ahead of time, the smoother your first couple of weeks will go.
If you have any questions about your equipment, now is the time to ask the vendors. Use these dry run sessions as an opportunity to give your wash and detailing equipment a thorough workout.
In addition to the actual wash and detailing process, use your friends and family to test drive your scheduling and billing procedures. Don't wait for your first customer to learn how to process a credit card!
